Dive Rite RG3000 Regulator

Scuba Gear News No Comments

Die Rite RG-3000 Regulator at DiveSports.comWe have been a proud dealer for Dive Rite products since we first opened our store in 2000. One unique thing about this company is the serious commitment to product improvement, based on the suggestions of dealers and consumers.  When Dive Rite notices a possible improvement to a product, they implement it!  This type of continuous improvement is exactly what is needed in a dive community that consists of the most serious recreational and technical divers.

The introduction of the new Dive Rite RG3000 regulator is another step in the commitment to continuous improvement at Dive Rite. Building on the success of the well tested RG2500 regulator, the Dive Rite RG3000 features a brand new second stage, incorporating many improvements that should excite any avid diver. The new RG3000 second stage is fully balanced, and features an improved venturi feature that allows the diver to adjust the regulator to a full positive-pressure venturi regulator. When no venturi effect is desired, the RG3000 allows for a completely unobstructed air flow for full venturi action. the RG-3000 also has a diver-adjustable knob to allow the diver to vary the effort required to start the air flow. The combination of these two adjustments allow a diver to completely tune the regulator for personal comfort or for any dive conditions. For the first stage, Dive Rite stayed with the very successful RG1208 first stage. This rotating-turret first stage is used by thousands of serious divers world-wide and provides all of the air needed, when it is needed the most. For styling, Dive Rite has stayed with the “all black” visual, recognized by divers all over, for both the first and the new RG3000 second stage.

DiveSports.com Regulator Bags

Scuba Gear News 4 Comments

We typically provide a free regulator bag to any customer that purchases a complete regulator set.  Most of the regulator bags on the market seem to miss the mark on one or more areas.  About three months ago, we decided to design our own bag.

We just got a phone call from the trucking company telling us they were on the way to deliver the new DiveSports.com regulator bags.  We also have some very heavy duty weight bags in that order.  These regulator bags are well designed, round at the top for easy zipper movement, and a little deeper than most of the bags available.  The weight bags are very well constructed and will easily handle 40-50 pounds of weights without a problem.  Of course, both of these bags are embroidered with the new DiveSports.com logo.

We will try to post pictures of the new bags a little later this week.  We hope you all like them as much as we do.

XS Scuba M-Line Beta Titanium Dive Knife

Scuba Gear News No Comments

Yesterday, I was talking to Mike Piantoni from XS Scuba about our upcoming weekend Annual Christmas Party and Sale.  In the discussion, we realized that I had not ordered the newest addition to the XS Scuba M-Line….the Beta Titanium Dive Knife.  I guess the rush of preparing our new website, the recent new releases at the DEMA show, and the end of the year tasks had simply caused me to forget.  We have had great success with the M-Line masks and snorkels, and were eagerly anticipating the addition of the Beta Titanium knife to the line.  So, he is express shipping a variety of these knives in so we can have them for our Saturday sale.

Last year, XS Scuba obtained the patent rights and exclusive manufacturing rights for all of the masks and knives from the old Ocean Master line.  These products represent a little step above the typical masks, snorkels, and knives.  The features of the M-Line products are simply not matched by any other line.  The M-Line Titanium knife is unique.  First, the blade is real titanium, not the flash-coated titanium you find on most of the dive knives available.  The M-Line it titanium through and through.  The handles on the M-Line knives are really ergonomic.  They feel good in your hand.  XS Scuba is offering three distinct different blades; the standard sharp point, the traditional diver’s blunt point, and the tactical tanto point.  Handles for each of these blade designs on these knives are available in all black, or black with blue or yellow accents.  You really need to see these knives in person to fully appreciate the quality, style, and utility.

I think this line of knives normally retail for about $139.00.  That’s a lot for a dive knife, but this one is really worth the investment.  This is the maintenance free knife for the scuba diver that wants the best.  We have a limited number of these inbound to us, so make sure you are in our store early on Saturday morning to get yours.  We were able to do a little wheeling and dealing with Mike, so we are going to offer these during our Christmas Party and Sale for only $99.00.

Drop by and take a look at the XS Scuba M-Line Beta Titanium dive knife.  We think you will like what you see.  We will also try to get this special up on our online store, but the press against the date for the in-store sale is eating all of my resources.  Remember, you can always give us a call and order this on the telephone.  Of course, you get our holiday free shipping for any purchase of $35 or more.  Thanks.

Cool New Dive Map Cards

Scuba Gear News 2 Comments

We are busy with the receiving and pricing process for lots of new merchandise in preparation for our Annual Christmas Party and Sale on Saturday, December 1, 2007.  We have just received one of the coolest little stocking stuffers I have seen in a while.  Full color, 3D dive map cards for the shipwrecks of the Spiegel Grove in Key Largo and the USS Oriskany in Pensacola, Florida.

Shipwreck diving is extremely popular with our local and Internet customers.  Of course, the talk of the town is diving the USS Oriskany on our weekend trips to the Florida panhandle and the Spiegel Grove on our south Florida trips.  We are constantly fielding questions about the depths, layout, and dive specifics of these wrecks.  Now you can get a full color, waterproof card that shows these two wrecks in perfect detail.  Everything from the depths to various features, prevailing currents on the wrecks, boat travel time from port, and many other details are provided on these cards.  They are three-ring punched to fit the popular dive log binders and they provide a perspective of the wrecks that should make diving them a pleasure.  There is a single card for the Spiegel Grove and two cards (overview and control island closeup) for the USS Oriskany.

If you intend to dive these two wrecks, you have gotta have these site cards.  We are going to try to get these cool cards on our website for electronic purchase over the weekend.  Of course, they are available right now for purchase in our store.  If anyone is interested in these cards, they can give us a call at (800) 601-DIVE and we can take an immediate telephone order.

Steel 40CF Doubles

General Commentary, Scuba Gear News 2 Comments

Over the last eight years of being in the scuba business, we have seen lots of innovative new products come onto the scuba scene.  Some of the products gain a solid footing and become part of nearly every scuba diver’s regular assortment of gear.  However, some products are not designed with that large market in mind.  The newest item we have recieved will certainly be in that second smaller category, and will serve a very small segment of the technical diving community.  This new product is a set of bands and isolation manifold to fit 5 1/2 inch diameter cylinders.  The Dive Sports Staff members have actually talked numerous times about the idea of doubling small aluminum or steel cylinders to make a small compact set of doubles, but we were sure that no manufacturer would put forth the initial expense of designing such a system.  Well, we were wrong.

Dive Rite has designed a manifold and stainless steel tank bands to fit any tanks with a diameter of 5 1/2 inches.  We assembled a set today using Worthington 40CF  Steel Cylinders rated to 3130PSI.  The bands and manifold would also work on any 5 1/2 inch diameter tanks, like those from Faber and other manufacturers.   This set of Worthington Doubles is quite a neat little set.  They provide complete tank and regulator redundancy, while not weighing you down like a typical set of steel doubles.  They will also sit closer to your back so they will make for a very streamlined rig, probably more so than even a standard single cylinder.  I think they will be perfect for the diver who wants the trim, balance, and redundacy of doubles, but just doesn’t need all of the gas supply that conventional doubles provide.  I’m certainly looking forward to giving them a try myself.
