Annual service on scuba diving regulators is important to keep this valuable piece of equipment working correctly. We have long offered professional regulator service for all of the name brand regulators. However, many people simply prefer to do their own service. They like the reliability of doing it themselves and many simply enjoy the challenge of show and thoughtful home maintenance.
There have always been factory limitations on the sale of regulator service parts by several of the major scuba manufacturers. We have been examining our dealer agreements, working with our contacts at the factories, and moving toward making regulator parts available for retail purchase by anyone who believe they have the skill and training to complete these repairs themselves. We have recently added a “click-and-buy” page to our website at DiveSports.com that offers a limited supply of regulator repair kits for home or self-service. While we know that everyone understands that they activity requires skill and training, we want those who make the home service choice to have access to the genuine factory parts to do it properly. We now have annual repair kits for several models of regulators and more will be added in the future. We also offer several tools to make home regulator service easier.
Take a moment to visit our limited selection of regulator service kits and if you are inclined to do your own service, we invite you to use our capability to deliver the genuine factory parts. You can visit this page at www.divesports.com/partskits. Please remember that we will be adding more parts kits for additional brands as we work through the contact provisions. If you have any questions, please feel free to give us a toll-free call at (800) 601-DIVE.

Driving in to work this morning, I was amazed at the people waiting in line to take advantage of the sales at the local “big-box” stores. Who could possibly want to fight those crowds and push and shove just to save a few dollars on an item that is sold by every other store? Once at work, I logged into one of my favorite new services and read the article about the death at the Wal-Mart store in New York. Customers gathering before sun-up, surging forward with enough force to break down the door! Worst of all, the death of am employee so people can save a little money on a Christmas gift? Too crazy!

In an effort to expand our web presence, DiveSports.com has launched brand new social networking pages on Facebook and Myspace. Our hope is that the increased exposure will boost our online traffic to our primary website, and in turn, boost our sales volume. At the current time, both pages have limited content, but over the next few weeks, I hope to add to those pages with pictures, videos, and other stimulating content.
Both the Facebook and Myspace pages can be viewed without being members of the respective sites, but to get the full benefit of the pages and to see all of the content, you’ll need to sign up as a member. Members who become “fans” of the DiveSports.com pages will be able to post their own pictures and videos right on the DiveSports.com social pages, as well as communicate with other “fans” on the page. If you have pictures or videos that you would like me to post on the site, please just email them to brad@divesports.com and I’ll take care of posting them for you.
As the “fan” base of each of the sites grows over the next couple of months, I’ll be posting specials and promotions exclusively for Facebook and Myspace “fans.” Also, if there is anything you would like to see added to the sites, email me at brad@divesports.com and let me know what you would like to see. I’ll do my best to accomodate the requests.

Well, as many of you may have noticed, we have a pretty large gap in the posts on this blog, lasting throughout the entire summer. Sometime in the latter part of April, a “glitch” developed on the WordPress software we were using. This bug created a problem where every blog post we created was given a date of January 1, 1980 at 12:00 midnight. So, for more than 45 days, I made blog posts, thinking all was well, only to later find out about the date problem from a customer. I didn’t notice it myself, because I didn’t affect how I view the site as an administrator.
Cheap internet hosting has its benefits, but it also has its problems. This blog was a “free install” from a very inexpensive web hosting operation. They unfortunately offer no support for WordPress problems, and while there is a ton of public information about WordPress, I was unable to develop a fix until about a month ago. Anyway, I eventually made a copy of all of the blog posts that had been made, erased the entire software from the server, then installed a “supported” copy of WordPress. I then did the copy and paste routine to replace all of the posts. For some reason, I couldn’t recall or copy any of the posts dated January 1, 1980. No big loss….but I would have liked to restore everything.
We will be again making regular posts to the blog. Thanks to all of you that read.
